Havoc Of Mobb Deep Talks Dissing Tupac On “Drop A Gem On ‘Em”

Havoc of Mobb Deep appeared on Drink Champs where he spoke about dissing Tupac on the song “Drop A Gem On ‘Em.”

During the beef between Tupac and Biggie Smalls, Mobb Deep was also on Shakur’s radar. It all started in 1995 when Tupac was in prison. Mobb Deep went on to release “Survival Of The Fittest” where it appeared the Queens duo was dissing Tupac. “Survival of the fit, only the strong survive (Thug life, we still livin’ it),” Havoc rapped on the chorus. Tupac known for popularizing “Thug Life,” took it as a diss.

“I took it as a diss,” Tupac said in an interview with Sway. “So, from jail I’m calling my lil homies in Atlanta like, ‘Yo, they got a show out there. Get with them bustas.’ So, my homeboys rode on them like, ‘What’s up?!’ These ni–as was cowards in the car looking forward like they didn’t see my homeboys going, ‘Thug Life motherf–kas, whats poppin?!'”

Tupac touched on the Mobb Deep issue on the song “When We Ride On Our Enemies.” The unreleased track leaked after Tupac’s passing and later released officially on Tupac’s 2002 posthumous release “Better Dayz.”

Ni–a you’re barely livin’, don’t you got sickle cell?
See me have a seizure on stage, you ain’t feelin’ well, hell
How many ni–as wanna be involved?
See I was only talkin’ to Biggie, but I’ll kill all of y’all, then ball
,”

Tupac, “When We Ride On Our Enemies”

When asked by co-host Nore as to why they did not directly mention Tupac on the song “Drop A Gem On ‘Em,” Havoc said it was done purposely. “Back in the those days, it was all about the subs. Motherf–kas had to figure it out. So, it was all about the subs,” Havoc explained. “So, we didn’t directly say that.”

“It’s Tu-Not, knocked out the box and got rocked
Got raped on the Island, you officially got
Kick that thug s–t, Vibe magazine on some love s–t
Keep it real, kid, ’cause you don’t know who you f–kin’ with,”

Havoc, “Drop A Gem On ‘Em”

As stated by Nore, “Drop A Gem On ‘Em” was released after Tupac’s classic diss record, “Hit ‘Em Up.” In fact, the song was released 2 weeks before Tupac passed away. As noted by Havoc, Tupac directly dissed them on the iconic diss record. “”Oh yeah, Mobb Deep, you wanna f–k with us?,” Tupac said on the outro. “You better back the f–k up, Before you get smacked the f–k up.”

According to Havoc on Drink Champs, Tupac who on various occasions spoke about Prodigy’s sickle cell disease, possibly had someone close to Mobb Deep’s circle providing Shakur with the info. Wherever Tupac got his info, he did not shy away from using it to diss Mobb Deep. At this moment in time, Tupac was heartless just as those who were dissing him.

“Mobb Deep, I’ll swallow these ni–as,” Tupac said in an interview with Sway. “One of them has sickle cell, he barely breathing. He doesn’t even wanna see me. He’ll have a seizure. They both weigh like hundred pounds. My lil homies is attacking them. That’s why I don’t even address the Mobb Deep issue, because they’re not even on my level. I find it disrespectful that they think they can attack me.”
