Outlawz member reveals the reason why Kim Kardashian was in studio as a popular Tupac song was being produced.
This upcoming Decemeber 21st, fans will celebrate the 25th year anniversary of the Outlawz and Tupac collaboration album, “Still I Rise.”
The album labeled as “a labor of love” by Outlawz member EDI Mean, was being worked on before Tupac’s passing. Unfortunately Tupac’s tragic demise left the album incomplete.
As stated by EDI during a segment of “Talk My Truth,” the Outlawz were signatures away from finalizing a deal with Rap-A-Lot records when Tupac’s mother Afeni Shakur interrupted plans with a phone call.
Afeni insisted that the Outlawz shifted their focus on completing the very first collaboration album between them and Tupac Shakur. An invitation the Outlawz could not refuse.
With various records left unfinished and samples that were too complicated and expensive to fulfill, producers such as Damon Thomas were called upon.
According to EDI, Damon who worked for Death Row reocrds produced Tupac’s last two records ever recorded “All Out” and “Hell 4 A Hustler.”
Fast forward to 3 years later, Thomas was called upon to remix “He’ll 4 A Hustler” which would end up on the posthumous release.
“I walk into the studio one day and Daom Thomas is at the console. In the back is a young chick I had never seen before,” EDI explained during a recent segment of Talk My Truth. “He introduced her as his wife. She stayed their for the process of him making the beat.”
Turns out that his wife was Kim Kardashian. Damon and Kim would marry in 2000, a year after “Still I Rise” was released.
At only 19-years-old, this wouldn’t be the first time Kim was linked to the late great Tupac Shakur.
Back in 2019, Kim claimed she did a cameo appearance in a Tupac music video. View: Was Kim Kardashian In Tupac Shakur’s Music Video?
When I was 14. I was in a Tupac video. It was 1994. No one would ever know. First of all, we lied and said we were like 18 probably. I definitely looked 18,” she shared on the Foodgod OMFG! podcast. “I didn’t even drive. I think it was for a soundtrack. I have to call Kourtney and find out.”
Kim’s recollection immediately made headlines, but also had Tupac fans confused. The timeline appears to be off, but it is understandable giving the fact this was more than 20 years ago.
The only Tupac music video that had models on a runway was for “All About U,” released in 1996 not 1994. The single did appear in a soundtrack for the 2000 film, Scary Movie.
“No, he wasn’t there,” Kim explained when asked by the host of Foodgod OMFG! podcast if Tupac was present. “I’ve never seen the footage. We were walking down the runway, like we were models walking down a runway. It wasn’t like we were in bikinis by the pool or anything like that. We were literally walking down a runway, and it was Kim Stewart, Kourtney, me and maybe like one or two other of our friends.”
