Marlon Wayans appeared on ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden,’ where the comedian shared his memories of Tupac and Biggie Smalls.
Wayans who is currently starring in Netflix’s ‘The Curse Of Bridge Hollow,’ has a legendary resume as one of the most celebrated comedians of our time. A resume which includes a movie with Tupac Shakur, early in his acting career.
Speaking with James Corden, Wayans was asked about Tupac and Biggie Smalls photograph that has the young actor on the far left.
“I had just did ‘Above The Rim’ with Tupac,” Wayans recalls. “Tupac had just done a movie called ‘Juice’ with my best friend Omar Epps. So ‘Pac was performing at Glam Slam which was Prince’s old club downtown and Biggie was performing that night.”
Tupac, who helped Biggie Smalls early in his career, often found himself sharing the stage with the Brooklyn rapper. Their friendship took a turn for the worse when Tupac was shot in Quad Studios and blamed Biggie for not being a better friend after the shooting.
“That night I met Biggie and ‘Pac. They shared the stage and we were really cool, hanging out and smoking weed together. It was a great night. A couple of years after that they started beefing,” said Marlon Wayans.
As Tupac and Biggie climbed the ladder of success in the music industry, so did Marlon Wayans in the world of acting. Marlon along with his brothers starred in the comedy show ‘The Wayans Bro.’ With the early success of the sitcom, there were also movies such as ‘Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood,’ which helped Marlon grow in popularity.
“I seen Biggie at the Vibe Magazine party and he was like, ‘Yo, I’m proud of you guys. Your family. I like what ya’ll doing. Ya’ll legendary. Keep doing what you’re doing kid,’ Wayans shared. Unfortunately for Biggie, ten minutes later he was gunned down as he left the Vibe party.
For Marlon Wayans, this wouldn’t be the first time he shared a moment with a legendary rapper minutes before their demise. According to Wayans, he and Tupac spoke 20 minutes before Shakur was shot on the Vegas strip.

“I see Tupac in Vegas at the Luxor,” Wayans recalls. “I saw him 20 minutes before. Went and gave him a hug. I said, ‘Love you bother. Good seeing you. It was me, him and Omar Epps. Me and Omar Epps got into the cab. ‘Pac had all those people around him. He got into his BMW. He was looking at us like, ‘I wish I could get into that cab with ya’ll’ But he got in that BMW. Twenty minutes later he was shot.”
