During his incredible music career Tupac Shakur blessed listeners with multiple solo albums, countless features and an unreleased catalog that gave us plenty of posthumous releases. One of those projects is regarded as the rap icons very best.

Released in 1995, Tupac’s third solo album Me Against The World, became a fan favorite instantly. With singles such as Dear Mama and Temptations, the album landed at number one on the Billboard charts despite Tupac Shakur being locked up behind bars.

With mainstream hits, the album also contained many gems. One of those was produced by Easy Mo Bee, the Brooklyn native who was instrumental in producing for various artists in hip hop and R&B.

EDI Mean (Talk My Truth)

Reflecting on witnessing greatness, was EDI Mean on a recent episode of Talk My Truth. EDI was hit with many fond memories when he ran into Easy Mo Bee on New Year’s Eve.

“I remember when they did If I Die 2nite,” EDI said, kicking off a brand new Talk My Truth. “I just remember, you know, getting into the studio. ‘Pac had a session and Mo Bee was already there. And I believe he asked ‘Pac like, ‘Yo, what you thinking? What you wanna work on?’ And ‘Pac immediately said, ‘I love that s*** you did for Craig Mack, Flavor In Ya Ear. Man, I need a beat like that. Hook me up with one of those.'”

The song set the tone for the album as it came right after the intro. “Just judging by the energy of that particular track, you knew it had to kick an album off. Whatever album it was going on, that had to be the first song,” said EDI.

Moo Bee who had also worked with Biggie Smalls was in his pocket that evening and Tupac was not shying away from creating a masterpiece.

“Mo Bee constructed the beat in I wanna say in 15 to 20 minutes,” explained EDI. “While he was doing the beat ‘Pac was writing to it.”

The legendary producer was also part of other Tupac classics such as My Block and Temptations.

The Outlawz member also went on to break down another Easy Mo Bee classic on the record Runnin from the Police, which also featured Tupac and Biggie Smalls. Watch the full episode below.
