Did Janet Jackson Change Phone Number On Tupac Because Of MJ?

Reggie Wright Jr, former head of Death Row records security, claims Janet Jackson changed her number on Tupac because of Michael Jackson.

During a Q&A on Bomb1st YouTube channel, Reggie Wright Jr. was asked to speak on reports claiming Michael Jackson was asked to appear on Tupac’s ‘Makaveli’ album. QDIII who spoke to BET for a speical cover on Tupac’s iconic ‘Makaveli’ album, stated he had contacted Michael Jackson for a feature on the album. “So I set up a meeting at Neverland [Ranch],” QDIII explained. “I go up there and told Michael about it. And do you know what Michael said? He liked Biggie.” (View: Michael Jackson Declined A Feature On Tupac’s “Makaveli” Album)

Reggie Wright Jr. was not surprised at all. In Fact, Wright said it was MJ who made sure Janet did not have any type of relationship with Tupac after filming Poetic Justice. “That’s what ‘Pac told us privately,” Wright said in the 6 minute clip. “He was very disappointed about that.”

Janet Jackson and Tupac

Tupac and Janet Jackson both co-starred in the 1993 John Singleton film, Poetic Justice. During the movie set, it is well documented, through interviews by Tupac, that Janet requested Shakur to take an AIDS test. Although there were no sex scenes between the two, just a kiss, she wanted him to take the test. Tupac refused, not once but a handful of times, despite multiple efforts from various people working on the film.

“I don’t know if it was Janet that it came from, but I know that suddenly out of the blue they wanted me to take an AIDS test for this love scene,” Tupac explained. “And, I did not disagree. I said, ‘If I am really going to back love with Janet Jackson, I’d take four AIDS tests.’ But, if Ima do a love scene just like somebody else did and they did not take, I’m not taking a test. Not only am I not taking a test, but get out of my trailer.”

Despite the AIDS test, Tupac and Janet appeared to have chemistry on set. Regina King appeared on Janet’s documentary which aired early this year simultaneously on Lifetime and A&E. According to King, Tupac and Janet had chemistry off and on screen as they filmed Poetic Justice.

“I don’t know if Janet will ever admit to it, but there was a bit of that chemistry going on. You could cut the air in the room at times,” Regina said in her interview. “But she was in a relationship with René, make no mistake about it.” Regina was referring to Janet’s then-husband René Elizondo Jr, who she was married to from 1991 to 2000.
