NLE Choppa Claims Fans Compare Him To Tupac And Michael Jackson
NLE Choppa known for showing love to Tupac Shakur, claims fans have compared him to the hip hop icon.
Tennessee native and 19-year-old rapper NLE Choppa spoke with Power 106 where he discussed his upcoming album in 2022. While speaking on other various topics, the young artist emphasized on his purpose being more deeper than his music. His desire to leave an impact on those who consume his music led to the rapper revealing who his fans have compared him to.
“I don’t know, I feel like I get a lot of Michael Jackson ’cause of the type of energy I bring,” he said. “Somebody even said I look like him, [but] I don’t know about that. … And I get 2Pac, too, because of what I stand for, what type of principles I stand for outside of music. With me, it’s not about the music all the time, it’s about who I can impact. Whose life I can change.
It seems every few months, a new artist is being compared to Tupac. Whether to create headlines or for some beeliving that indeed they are the new Tupac. Fat Joe recently was asked by Big Tigger on BET, who he felt was the 2021 Tupac to which the rap veteran replied with DaBaby (Watch here). Understanding his comments could receive backlash, NLE Choppa via Twitter provided clarification.
“These comparisons got nothing to do with me MUSICALLY,” he wrote on Twitter. “Everything to do with what I stand for outside of it. I’m prolific I stand for some that can change the world.”
Earlier this year NLE Choppa paid tribute to Tupac Shakur with his “Picture Me Grappin” single and music video. Featured on Choppa’s 2020 album “From Dark to Light“, the new single samples 2Pac’s “Picture Me Rolin” which appeared on Pac’s Death Row records debut album “All Eyez On Me”. Directed by NLE Choppa, “Picture Me Grapin” emulates some of 2Pac’s classic music videos and moments such as; “Hit ‘Em Up”, “I Get Around” and the infamous moment where Shakur spit at news cameras.
