More than 26 years since his demise the official Tupac Shakur: the Authorized Biography is available now for preorder.
As 2023 will once again remind the world of Tupac’s impact and legacy will remain stronger than ever, various Tupac related projects are in the works. Aside from new music coming soon, reported first by Tupac Uncensored, the Estate has announced the first and only authorized biography.
A 464 page hardcover biography will tell the story of an Artist, Poet, Actor, Revolutionary, Legend that was Tupac. Shakur is one of the greatest and most controversial artists of all time. More than a quarter of a century after his tragic death in 1996 at the age of just twenty-five, he continues to be one of the most misunderstood, complicated and prolific figures in modern history.
Tupac’s unapologetic lyrics, for which he was villainized by many at the time, read in these pages as prophecy. His cry of outrage in a country that repeatedly told Black men and women that their lives did not matter, continues to inspire his fans around the world.
Taken on the project is author and screenwriter Staci Robinson who knew Tupac as a young man and who was entrusted by his mother, Afeni Shakur, to write his biography. Just as Allen Hughes with his upcoming Dear Mama docuseries on FX, Robinson was granted exclusive access to his private notebooks, letters, and unpublished lyrics. The biography will also feature uncensored conversations with those who knew and loved him best. Robinson tells a powerful story of a life defined by politics and art, and a man driven by equal parts brilliance and impulsiveness.
Listed at $35, Tupac Shakur: The Authorized Biography is now available for preorder on Amazon (Click Here). Slated for a fall 2023 release date, which is subject to change, the artwork for the biography has yet to be released.
The news comes days prior to the official trailer for Dear Mama was released. “It was my responsibility to teach Tupac how to survive his reality,” said Afeni in the official trailer. Told through the eyes of the people who knew them best, Dear Mama is an intimate wide-angle portrait of the most inspiring and dangerous mother-son duo in American history, whose unified message of freedom, equality, persecution and justice are more relevant today than ever.
